My name is Charley, and I’m a one-year-old tan lab, a solid 60 pounds of pure joy. My favorite thing in the world is being with my people. We play fetch, and oh boy, do I love a good stuffie! I pride myself on my ability to expertly detach limbs and appendages, a true testament to my chewing prowess. Bully sticks and elk antlers are high on my list too, especially when those hunger pangs hit. And trust me, they hit often.

Scratches behind the ears? Belly rubs? Yes, please! I’m a simple dog with simple pleasures. My past wasn’t so simple, and the crate still makes my tail tuck a little. But my people are patient. I’ll go in for my meals, and sometimes, if they’re really lucky, I’ll stay for a few minutes. Leaving them makes my tummy feel wobbly, and I’ll pace a bit, maybe let out a howl that sounds more like a groan. But then, that adorable power down kicks in. Instead of a sigh, it’s this long, old-man groan, and I’m out like a light.

I get along with my furry siblings, both the dogs and the cats, though my humans keep a close eye on the really good chew toys. I’m not a hyper dog; my happiest moments are spent snoozing at my people’s feet, or flopping over for a good belly rub. We’re working on my counter-surfing escapades and jumping up (I’m a gentle giant, though!). Car rides are my jam, and I sleep like a log in my room. Baths? No problem!

My people are still helping me get over being alone for longer stretches. It’s a work in progress, and sometimes I get a little anxious, but with their love and a little help, I’m learning to settle. After all, what’s better than a long groan, a deep sleep, and waking up to my favorite people?
