DESCRIPTION
Meet Shakira! As of August 2026, she’s about 1 year and 5 months old, and comes in about 60 pounds. Shakira is thought to be a lab mix. Shakira is black with brown brindling, and a white chest patch. Originally Shakira was a stray found in a cleared logging area in the woods.
Shakira is a playful, affectionate pup with an independent streak. She is very curious, sometimes difficult to redirect, but she’s a sweetheart for sure! Shakira will cuddle a while before taking off on her own agenda; watchout though, this cutie will chew many things, including cardboard boxes. Shakira likes to take her toys and kennel blanket, make a pile, and lay on top like a tiny dragon; speaking of toys, she is clever at identifying how to get a toy back (see the video). She is house and kennel trained; she is not food or toy aggressive. A home with a fenced yard will be ideal for her; she enjoys her walks and walks well on a leash. She's great with other dogs (both large and small!). Shakira has no problems with the cats in her foster home; she finds them fascinating but sometimes has trouble with their social cues (no malice towards them though!)
Please give Shakira a chance to prove her love and welcome her into your heart and home. Please contact Lindsay Modesto lindzerm@charter.net for an application, The adoption donation is $300 which includes her vetting, she is microchipped, spayed, and on heartworm preventative.
ABOUT: LABRADOR RETRIEVER DOG BREED
The Labrador Retriever is a popular and versatile dog breed known for its friendly demeanor and high intelligence. These dogs are often used as guide dogs for the visually impaired, search and rescue dogs, and excellent family pets. Labradors are known for their great sense of smell, strong build, and love of water, making them exceptional hunters and swimmers. With their loyal and loving nature, Labradors have rightfully earned their reputation as one of the most beloved dog breeds in the world.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
