Hi, my name is Zazie! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Shy, playful, affectionate
-Can Live with Kids: Zazie lived with young kids ages 5-10 previously and would likely be fine doing so again. Recommending kids 6+ at this time. All kiddos in the household would need to meet at WHS to ensure everyone gets along.
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history - slow and supervised introductions always recommended.
-Can Live with Dogs: Zazie would likely be fine living with another social dog of similar size/energy level, and would really, REALLY love to be adopted with his sister Lucia, although we are no longer requiring they be adopted as a pair.
-Can do Apartment Living: No thanks - Zazie needs a home with a larger area. A home with a fenced in yard would be preferred.
-Potty Trained: Yes
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Not required, but would likely be beneficial!
-Energy Level: Medium
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, neuter/MC.
Zazie is an intelligent and silly dog looking for his forever home, ideally with his bestie Lucia. It's obvious that Lucia and Zazie were very loved in their previous home and that it's no fault of theirs they found themselves at WHS. Some of Zazie's favorite things include various treat offerings, fetching tennis balls, and having his chest rubbed. While it does take some time for Zazie to warm up, once he does he's an affectionate guy with the quirkiest smile we've seen. He finds quite a bit of comfort in his bestie Lucia and we'd love to see them go into a home together. Zazie does also have vitiligo which is a harmless skin condition causing patchy loss of color in fur and skin, most often seen on the face and head. This condition doesn't bother Zazie, but you may see it progress into more loss of color as he gets older. Zazie's previous owners did also let us know that he has a sensitivity to lamb protein, but we recommend consulting your veterinarian with any follow up questions. If you're interested in meeting Zazie (and Lucia!) please fill out an application for review.
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
