DESCRIPTION
Meet Leila, a 5 year old Lab/Hound mix with soulful eyes and a heart that just needs a little time to shine. This sweet girl came to us alongside another dog after her owners moved out of state, and while the shelter has been a big adjustment for her, Leila is slowly showing us what a loving companion she truly is.
Leila can be shy at first and appreciates patience, soft talking, and a calm approach, but once she feels safe she absolutely melts into you for snuggles and affection. She loves going for walks, enjoys the company of other dogs, and is definitely food motivated once she gets comfortable — snacks are the way to her heart.
We think Leila would do best in a quieter home with older kids or teens who can respect her gentle nature. While we are unsure how she would do with cats, she may be okay with a calm, dog-savvy feline and slow proper introductions. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will reward your patience with quiet love and cuddles, Leila may just be your girl.
ABOUT: LABRADOR RETRIEVER DOG BREED
The Labrador Retriever is a popular and versatile dog breed known for its friendly demeanor and high intelligence. These dogs are often used as guide dogs for the visually impaired, search and rescue dogs, and excellent family pets. Labradors are known for their great sense of smell, strong build, and love of water, making them exceptional hunters and swimmers. With their loyal and loving nature, Labradors have rightfully earned their reputation as one of the most beloved dog breeds in the world.
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
