Meet Pinochio, the friendliest guy in town! He is estimated to be an about 2 year old grey Rex rabbit, and is a handsome boy. He comes hopping right over to say hello to everyone that walks by him, and he is very nosey always watching people as they pass by. He has a blast zipping all around his enclosure & tossing his toys around.
New to rabbits, or need a refresher on their care? Here are some tips:
Rabbits have a vegan diet that consists mainly of high quality Timothy Hay, supplemented with 1/4 cup of hay-based pellets per day. Rabbits can eat fresh veggies, with the amount adjusted to suit your bunny’s individual needs, but about a handful a day is a good starting point. They can eat romaine, green & red leaf lettuce, and dandelion greens, among others.
Rabbits need at least 4ftx4ft of open space to roam around in, with room for their food, water, litterbox, enrichment, and a spot to hide. They should be kept on a solid surface and not wire, as this can hurt their feet, with some soft bedding. Rabbits are social creatures and unless otherwise stated, should be kept with another rabbit friend.
Our shelter is open Tuesday-Sunday from 12-4 (closed Mondays). If you are interested in this pet, please review our adoption process at www.lowellhumanesociety.org/adoption/#process and email adopt@lowellhumanesociety.org to set up a time to meet this guy.
