Dennis - Jack Russell Terrier and Rat Terrier Dog for Adoption in Foley, Alabama

Hi, I am Dennis! I am a 3-year-old, 15-pound Jack Russell/Rat Terrier mix who is still learning what it feels like to be safe, loved and truly wanted. I came to rescue after being saved from a hoarding situation down South, where life did not give me many chances to experience the things every dog deserves. A soft bed, gentle hands, kind voices and a home of my own are all still a little new to me. Right now, I am being fostered in Washington, Michigan while I wait for the family who will finally make me theirs.

I am a sweet, easygoing little guy who does well with people, other dogs and even cats. I can be shy when I first meet someone, but please do not mistake my hesitation for a lack of love. I am simply figuring out that people can be safe and that good things can stay. I may not rush into your arms the first five minutes we meet, but give me a little time and you will start to see the real Dennis. I will linger a little closer. I will watch you with softer eyes. I will begin choosing to be near you. And when a dog like me decides you are someone I can trust, it means everything. I WILL REQUIRE A FENCED YARD TO HELP KEEP ME SAFE.

I am not asking for much. I just need a patient family who will give me the time and reassurance to keep becoming the dog I was always meant to be. I have already survived the hardest part of my story. Now I am waiting for the part where someone looks at me and decides I am worth choosing. I will come fully vetted, neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations and preventatives. I have spent enough of my life without a home of my own. I am ready to finally know what forever feels like.
