Susie - Irish Terrier and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Portland, Oregon

Hi everyone! My name is Susie, and I'm a 5-6 month old Terrier-ish mixed breed weighing about 27 lbs. I recently made my way to Oregon from Texas, and I'm ready to find a family who is looking for a fun, playful, affectionate puppy!

I'm a VERY high-energy girl who loves to play! My friends in Texas said I immediately ran into the yard and started playing before anyone even had a chance to properly introduce me. Apparently I saw a yard and some dogs and thought, "Yep, this looks like my kind of place!"

I'm very friendly with other dogs and love having canine friends to play with. I'm definitely a push-and-pull kind of puppy-meaning I have lots of energy and enthusiasm, but I also really enjoy turning that energy off and becoming a total cuddle bug. Once playtime is over, I'm happy to snuggle up with my people.

I can be a tiny bit suspicious when I first meet a new person or animal, but apparently I only need about 30 seconds to decide you're probably okay. Once I warm up, I'm a sweet little social butterfly who loves attention.

My Texas rescue also reported that I was friendly with children, learned quickly, knew how to sit, respected house and room boundaries, and didn't tend to bark. They even reported that I was doing well with potty training. Of course, I'm still a puppy and moving to a completely new home means my family should be prepared to start from the basics again, give me a consistent routine, and continue reinforcing all those good habits.

I'm smart, food motivated, playful, and eager to be involved in whatever my people are doing. With all that energy, I'll need plenty of exercise, playtime, training, and mental stimulation so I can learn how to be a polite grown-up dog instead of staying a 27-lb tornado forever.

I'm still young, so I'm looking for a family who understands that puppies don't come finished. I'll need continued work on leash manners, impulse control, basic obedience, appropriate chewing, and learning when it's time to settle down.
