Hi everyone! My name is Bella, and I'm an 8-9 month old Aussie-ish mixed breed who weighs only about 20 lbs. I may be small, but don't let my size fool you-I have a LOT of personality packed into this little body!
My previous family had to make the difficult decision to surrender me because they could no longer afford to care for me or give me the time and attention I needed. They told the rescue that I had been good with children of all ages, loved to play, and was puppy-pad trained.
Since arriving at ODR, we've learned that I am a VERY energetic young girl with a brain that is just as busy as my body. I have some classic herding-breed qualities: I'm smart, observant, curious, and ready to participate in whatever is happening around me. I don't just need to run around until I'm tired-I need to use my brain, too!
Training, puzzle toys, scent games, learning new tricks, food puzzles, structured play, and activities that make me think will be just as important for me as physical exercise. A family who enjoys teaching their dog things and wants a little sidekick who is always ready to learn would be a great match for me.
I'm still very much a puppy, so I need all the usual puppy work, including continued leash manners, impulse control, basic obedience, appropriate chewing, and learning how to settle when it's time to relax. I'm smart enough to learn quickly, but that also means I need consistent boundaries and something constructive to do with all that brainpower!
I haven't had much experience with other dogs, so my future family should plan on slow, appropriate introductions rather than assuming I'll automatically know how to interact with every dog I meet.
At the end of the day, I'm a fun, affectionate, energetic little girl who is ready for someone who will make me part of their life-not just put me in the backyard to burn off energy.
If you're looking for a 20-lb package of Aussie-ish brains, energy, curiosity, and puppy silliness, I might be your girl! Just be prepared: my body may be small, but my brain has plenty of work for you.
