My name is Princess Wag Muffin. But my foster family calls me Ivy.
I don't remember where I came from. I don't know why I was out there alone, or how long I had to fend for myself. I was found as a stray, and when they first looked at me, they thought I was about three years old.
Maybe I looked a little tired. Maybe life had already asked too much of me.
But then they got to know me. And they realized something. I'm not three. I'm only about one year old. I'm just a puppy. A puppy who somehow ended up alone in a world that is very big and very confusing.
And now that I'm safe, I'm trying to make up for lost time.
I want to experience everything.
Everything is interesting. Everything needs investigating. Everything might be a toy. Everything might be an adventure. Nothing—absolutely NOTHING—is safe from my puppy curiosity.
I'm still learning that not everything I see belongs to me. I'm learning that sometimes I need to slow down. I'm learning that when my people say "leave it," they really mean please stop trying to eat that immediately.
But I'm learning.
And underneath all that puppy chaos is a really special girl. I LOVE other dogs. I love having friends. I love being part of a pack. And when the excitement is over, there is nowhere I'd rather be than curled up next to my person, soaking up every bit of affection I can get.
I just need someone patient enough to help me understand what they're asking of me. Someone who will give me boundaries without breaking my spirit. Someone who will teach me what the world expects while remembering that I'm still just a baby who is discovering it for the first time.
Because I think I'm going to be something really wonderful.
Give me some training. Give me some redirection. Give me consistency. Give me patience.
And then take me outside. Take me hiking. Take me exploring. Take me somewhere I've never been. Let me put my paws on new trails and sniff things I've never smelled and discover what it feels like to have a person who comes back for me.
I think I would make an incredible adventure companion. Not because I'm perfect. I'm definitely not perfect. I'm a little wild. I'm curious. I'm enthusiastic. I occasionally make questionable choices. And I have a puppy brain that sometimes gets ahead of my common sense.
But I'm trying.
And maybe that's the part I wish you could see when you look at me. I'm trying so hard.
I went from being a stray—just another dog with an unknown story—to being Ivy. Someone's girl. Someone's hiking buddy. Someone's couch snuggler. Someone's best friend.
I don't need someone to rescue me anymore. I'm safe now. What I need is someone to choose me. Choose the goofy puppy underneath the rough beginning. Choose the girl who loves dogs. Choose the girl who melts into a cuddle. Choose the girl who is going to need some patience and training but has so much love to give in return.
I don't know what my first chapter was. But I'm ready for you to help me write the rest.
Love,
Ivy (Princess Wag Muffin)
