Baloo - Husky and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Bend, Oregon

MEET BALOO - THE ALASKAN SWEETHEART HEADING SOUTH FOR A BRAND-NEW BEGINNING!

From a short chain in Kotzebue, Alaska, to a chance at the life every dog deserves, Baloo's story is just beginning - and we have a feeling this handsome boy is going to steal some hearts here in the Pacific Northwest!

Baloo is an approximately 1-year-old, 60-pound Husky mix who has spent virtually his entire life living outdoors on a short chain. When a traveling veterinary team from Banfield/VCA visited to provide him with a proper doghouse, they learned that his owners didn't want the doghouse - or Baloo. Thankfully, they stepped up to help, and this sweet boy was surrendered to a local shelter while an incredible team of people worked to get him safely out of Alaska. Since then, Baloo has made his way from Kotzebue to Nome and on to a temporary foster home in Anchorage. Now, he's catching a flight to Portland, Oregon, where he'll continue his journey with Street Dog Hero! And what have we learned about this boy so far? He's an attention-loving, playful, cuddle-seeking goofball! One volunteer shared how he had everyone laughing on their walk as he chased leaves, discovered sticks, and gleefully tossed them around. He craves affection, loves to play, and is eager to soak up the attention he's been missing.

Imagine having spent your entire life without the freedom to explore, play, or simply be a dog. Baloo is just beginning to discover all the wonderful things the world has to offer, and we can't wait to see his personality blossom as he settles into foster care. Because Baloo is a young Husky mix, we recommend an adopter with experience and familiarity with Huskies, Husky mixes, or other northern breeds who understands their energy, intelligence, independence, and need for appropriate exercise and enrichment.
