Blitz - Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Bend, Oregon

Meet Blitz - aka Bruiser, aka Stanley, depending on the day!

More curious than George and somehow even stealthier than Jason Bourne when it comes to collecting socks and shoes that you forgot to put away, Blitz is a fun-loving, affectionate young dog who is ready to find his person. Blitz's DNA test shows a wonderful mix of Boxer, Labrador Retriever, Boston Terrier, Staffordshire Terrier, and several other breeds - and his personality is just as fun and unique as his DNA! His idea of a perfect day? An adventure-filled romp through the woods, followed by some serious sunbathing, snuggles, and chewing on a favorite bully stick. He's an active, social boy who loves being part of the action and would thrive with a family ready to include him in their adventures while continuing to help him learn and grow. Blitz came to Oregon from one of Street Dog Hero's shelter partners in Oklahoma after a rescue organization saved his siblings but unfortunately left him behind. Their loss turned out to be someone else's gain, because this boy is an absolute gem. He has been especially wonderful with his deaf foster sister, showing himself to be tolerant, playful, and even a trusted companion and guide for her. He's a social butterfly who has never met a stranger and genuinely seems to believe that everyone he meets should stop for a little attention - and, naturally, a treat. He is extremely food-motivated, which should make continuing his training a lot of fun! Like any young dog, Blitz is still learning about the world and working through some typical puppy behaviors. He knows "sit" when treats are involved, and his off-leash recall is improving nicely with positive reinforcement. He would benefit from continued training, especially around basic manners, boundaries, leash skills, and learning how to channel all that youthful enthusiasm appropriately.

Blitz has not yet been around cats or children, so those would be new experiences that would need to be introduced thoughtfully. He has shown some prey drive toward squirrels and birds, and he's still in that very normal but sometimes challenging mouthy stage of puppyhood. Blitz is a sweet, sensitive, playful boy with plenty of personality. He's looking for someone who will appreciate his goofy side, give him the exercise and mental stimulation he needs, and patiently help him become the wonderful adult dog he's destined to be. Street Dog Hero is assisting Blitz's family with his rehoming and helping network him to find the right forever home. If you're looking for an affectionate, adventurous, food-motivated companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Blitz might just be your guy.

Will you be his lucky hero?

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
