Meet Tux, the dapper gentleman!
Male / Hound Mix, Cocomutt / 53lbs / 6 years old / UTD on shots / Good with dogs, cats and older dog savvy children
Personality
Meet Tux, the sweetest, most gentle best friend you could ask for! This handsome six-year-old is calm, affectionate and incredibly easygoing. Once he chooses his person, he becomes your loyal little shadow and is happiest hanging out by your side.Tux loves his walks, but he’s equally happy curling up on the couch for a movie. His foster family calls him a “cat dog” because he loves curling into the tiniest little ball with his feet tucked underneath him! As he’s settled into foster care, his playful personality has really started to shine, complete with zoomies and an adorable “walk time” dance. He is friendly with people, dogs and cats, although he can be a little shy when meeting someone new. Give him a little time and he quickly comes out of his shell.
Ideal Home
Tux would love a home with someone who enjoys having a close companion and can give him plenty of walks, attention and snuggles. He would be a wonderful fit for a solo person or couple and would do well in an apartment or condo. A backyard is not necessary — Tux is perfectly happy exploring the neighbourhood or heading out for a longer trail walk. He gets along well with other dogs and has happily made friends with the cat in his foster home. He has not lived with children during his foster stay, but his gentle and patient nature suggests he could do well with respectful kids. Tux prefers a calmer environment and can be startled by unexpected loud noises, but he recovers quickly and adapts well to new surroundings.
Training & Activity
Tux is house-trained and knows sit, down, shake paw and leave it. He is excellent on a loose leash and has good recall, especially with treats. He also appears to have been taught to check in with his person by gently tapping their hand during walks — very cute! He enjoys about 1–2 hours of activity throughout the day, including several walks. He loves longer adventures but is also happy with neighbourhood strolls. Once he’s had his exercise, he settles beautifully and is content to relax with his person. Tux does not currently use a crate and does well when left alone. He may watch the door for a few minutes when you leave, but settles quickly with no signs of separation anxiety.
Summary
Tux is a gentle, affectionate and easygoing guy who wants nothing more than to be your best friend. He loves walks, couch cuddles and being part of the family. Give him a little time to settle in, and you'll discover a silly, playful and incredibly loyal companion who will happily follow you wherever you go!
