Meet Lupin, he arrived from Northern Manitoba with help from our partners at K9 Advocacy Manitoba. He is a handsome little pup with a big personality and an even bigger appetite! At under 6 months old and around 10 lbs, Lupin is still discovering the world and learning all about being a good boy. He has already made huge strides since arriving in foster care, and his confidence and personality seem to grow every day.
Lupin is comfortable living in a condo and has adjusted wonderfully to city sounds and everyday life. He's smart, food-motivated, and always ready for his next adventure.
Personality
Lupin is a playful, affectionate, and very energetic puppy who loves being around his people. He gets incredibly excited when his foster wakes up and loves nothing more than greeting her with a big puppy welcome. Once the excitement settles, he's happy to curl up for a nap on her chest.
He loves playing with his foster dog sibling, Sadie, and is always up for a game of fetch or tug. He's also an enthusiastic chewer and is discovering that his toys and chews are much better choices than the furniture!
Like any young puppy, Lupin is still learning his manners. He's currently very mouthy and nippy, especially when excited or teething, so he'll need patient guidance and consistent boundaries as he learns how to interact appropriately.
Ideal Home
Lupin is looking for an active and experienced home that understands the commitment that comes with raising a young puppy. His new family should be prepared for plenty of supervision, training, playtime, and puppy-proofing.
He could do well in a condo or house as long as his physical and mental exercise needs are met. A fenced yard would be a bonus, but isn't essential.
Lupin enjoys other dogs and would likely love having a playful canine companion, provided interactions are supervised and appropriate breaks are given when puppy energy gets a little too enthusiastic.
Because he's still learning impulse control and can be quite mouthy, a home with very young children may not be the best fit right now. With continued training and maturity, this is something that may change in the future.
Training & Activity
Lupin is a smart little guy who already knows sit and paw and is making great progress with down, come, and waiting politely for his meals. He's also doing wonderfully with his crate. He goes in willingly, sleeps through the night, and settles after a little initial whining.
House training is coming along well, with Lupin consistently using pee pads and going outside, although he's still having the occasional accident.
Lupin is very high energy and will need lots of play, enrichment, and eventually longer walks and outdoor adventures once he's fully vaccinated. He loves fetch, tug, puzzle toys, chews, and playing with other dogs.
He's also a bit of an escape artist! He can climb out of his playpen and will try to dash through an open door, so his new family will need to be diligent about doors, gates, and supervision while he learns his boundaries.
Short Summary
Lupin is a playful little ball of energy with a heart of gold! He's smart, affectionate, food-motivated, and full of puppy personality. He's looking for an active family who is ready to embrace the fun (and occasional chaos!) of puppyhood and help him grow into the wonderful adult dog he's destined to be. With patience, structure, training, and lots of love, Lupin is going to be one very special companion.
