Meet Sweet Gum!

Hi, my name is Sweet Gum, and Im a handsome hound mix (at least thats what my people think!). Im about 18 months old, weigh 67 pounds, and Im ready to find my forever family.

Im the perfect combination of fun and easygoing. Im house trained, crate trained, and I do great when left home alone. I also love car rides, so if youre looking for a road trip buddy, Im always ready to hop in—no nervous tummy here!

I walk nicely on a leash and love getting out to explore. Whether its a stroll around the neighborhood or a day on the trails, Im happiest when Im spending time with my people. Im a medium-energy guy who enjoys staying active but also knows how to settle down and relax at home after a day of adventures.

One of my favorite things is playing with other dogs! Id love a home with a canine companion who enjoys having fun as much as I do. I havent been tested with cats, so my rescue is looking for a cat-free home. I also havent spent time with young children while in rescue, so a home with kids 8 years and older would be the best fit.

Im a smart boy who loves treats, which makes training both fun and rewarding. Id thrive with a family who enjoys hiking, camping, or simply getting outdoors and making memories together.

My story didnt start out so easy. I was found wandering through a National Forest with my tiny buddy, ShortLeaf. Neither of us had identification, and despite everyones efforts, our families were never found. When I came into rescue, I had a limp that turned out to require hip surgery. Thankfully, my rescue gave me the care I needed. After surgery and lots of love, Ive made a full recovery—youd never know I ever had an injury!

Now Im healthy, happy, and ready for the next chapter of my life.

Im neutered, microchipped, up to date on my vaccines, and ready to go home with my forever family.
