Hound and Shar Pei Dogs Available for Adoption in Ellicott City, Maryland

Dante is the sweetest puppy. He is always up for romps in the yard and snuggles on the couch. He adores adults, kids, and other dogs. When presented with a new situation, he waits and watches to see what his littermate does first. His coat is mostly black with a chest full of mottled white fur. He is showing great promise towards house training and always gets down to business straight away when taken outside.

Dante has the most soulful puppy eyes that no one can resist! He settles down in his crate at bedtime quickly and sleeps quietly all night and greets you enthusiastically in the morning with his sweet puppy hello wiggle. He’s learning how to walk on a leash and loves to be right next to you at all times.

The D litter came to us from our rescue partner in Johnson City, Tennessee.

THIS dog is NOT in the shelter. For puppies in foster care, you MUST submit an application via EMAIL to smpetfinder@gmail.com. Please note in the email subject which puppy you are interested in.

The more information you provide, the faster the process is for all of us. Once you are approved to adopt, we will schedule an appointment to see the puppy in person and you will adopt and take it home that day.

Due to the (usual) speed and ease of our adoption process, PLEASE ONLY APPLY IF YOU ARE READY TO ADOPT RIGHT NOW. If you are not ready to adopt within the next couple of days, we totally understand - just wait to apply until you are ready.

Adoption Fees:

Before our dogs are available for adoption, they will always be spayed/neutered, vaccinated (Distemper, Parvovirus, Bordetella, Rabies as much as age-appropriate), stool sample checked for parasites, and dewormed.

Adoption fee for our dogs is $375, $40 for a microchip and registration and $25 for a 3 month supply of heartworm preventative, for a TOTAL of $440.

The hound dog breed is a diverse group known for their incredible hunting abilities and keen sense of smell. These dogs are esteemed for their athleticism, endurance, and loyalty, making them excellent companions for active individuals and families alike. With a rich history of assisting hunters in tracking and trailing game, hounds possess a strong prey drive and a distinctive bay when on the hunt. Hounds come in various sizes and coat types, each with its unique characteristics, but they all share a remarkable intelligence and a friendly disposition.

The Shar Pei is a distinctive breed known for their deep wrinkles and blue black tongue. Originally from China, these medium sized dogs are loyal, independent, and protective of their families. Shar Peis have a unique appearance with a hippopotamus like face and a broad, padded muzzle. Their coat can be either horse coat or brush coat, coming in a variety of colors. While they can be aloof with strangers, Shar Peis are devoted companions with a calm demeanor, making them wonderful family pets.
