Meet Essie

Sweet little Essie is an 11-year-old Havanese weighing about 12 pounds, and she is looking for a quiet place to call home for her golden years.

Essie found herself looking for a new home after her owner had to move into a nursing facility and was no longer able to care for her. We know a change like that can be confusing for a senior dog, so right now, Essie is looking for something simple: a quiet home, a predictable routine, and someone who will love her for the rest of her life.

Essie is a total couch potato. She is independent, quiet, potty trained, and very accustomed to having a routine. She knows sit and stay, walks nicely on a leash, and does best when life is calm and predictable.

When meeting new people, Essie can be a little timid at first, but she does okay once she gets comfortable. She would prefer a home without children—no children at all—and ideally with one or two adults.

Essie does require a fenced yard, and a standard 4-foot fence is perfectly fine.

She isn't looking for a busy household or lots of excitement. She is looking for someone who understands that an older dog may need a little time to settle in and who will appreciate the quiet companionship of a sweet senior girl.
