Tony - Greyhound Dog for Adoption in Allentown, Pennsylvania

Personality:
Tony is a sweet, friendly and confident boy with a happy, outgoing personality. He is affectionate and
personable, seeks eye contact and enjoys spending time with his handlers. He has a lovely waggy tail and an
expressive grey face that gives him plenty of character.
Tony enjoys attention, treats and being brushed, and has a playful side with the occasional burst of zoomies. He
can become enthusiastic and excitable when first clipped on lead, but once settled he shows a much gentler and
calmer side. He is generally good on lead and enjoys taking his time to sniff and explore his surroundings.
Behaviour Assessment:
Tony can become quite enthusiastic when excited, but once the initial excitement passes, he becomes much easier
to manage and has shown good manners when leaving his pen and heading out for walks.
During his assessment with other breed dogs, Tony's complete lack of previous exposure to them meant he
exhibited a high level of interest. He was rough and rude in his interactions with the medium sized dogs and this
escalated when on a long lead. Tony would benefit from structured exposure to other dogs.
On walks, Tony loves to sniff, but settles into a comfortable pace and generally does not pull. He is also
comfortable around passing traffic. Tony completed his airline crate-training session very well, entering the crate,
lying down and remaining as quiet as a mouse throughout.
NOTE: Tony is a clever boy and also bored in kennels - so he has worked out how to flip open some outdoor pen
latches to get out of the internal yards. Hence secure gates will be important in his future home.

Overall Comments:
Tony is a happy and affectionate boy with plenty of personality. He can be excitable and boisterous when first
taken out of his kennel, but has shown that he is capable of settling into a much calmer and gentler boy with
appropriate guidance.
He enjoys his walks, affection, treats and opportunities to explore .. Tony would benefit from a home that can
provide consistency, secure boundaries and continued work on managing his excitement, particularly around
other dogs. With the right guidance and routine, his sweet and personable nature will have plenty of
opportunity to shine.
