Meet Meika!

Meika is an almost 3-year-old Great Pyrenees with the sweetest, gentlest, most timid-momma-dog personality you could ever hope to meet.

Meika originally came to us as a stray after being found abandoned and in pretty rough shape. She had severe eye infections in both eyes, but with a little TLC (okay... a LOT of TLC), we got this beautiful girl healthy and ready for a second chance. She was eventually adopted, and we thought she had found her forever home.

Unfortunately, we learned that Meika has some very strong opinions about chickens. While she had been intended to help protect them, Meika decided that chasing and killing chickens was considerably more entertaining. So, she's back with us after a year and looking for a home that is a better fit for her talents.

And honestly? Meika is happiest doing what Great Pyrenees were made to do. She has working experience with goats and sheep, and that is probably where this girl truly shines. Give her some livestock to watch over, plenty of outdoor space, and a job to do, and we think you'll have one very happy Pyrenees.

That doesn't mean Meika can't be a companion, though! She absolutely loves people and is wonderful with children. She's gentle and sweet with other dogs and doesn't pay much attention to cats. She's a little timid and reserved, but once she knows you, her soft, loving personality really shines through.

Meika would likely thrive as a working farm dog with larger livestock, but we also believe she has potential to be a wonderful pet for the right family who understands that she is much more comfortable and content outdoors than she is being an indoor dog.

She's been through a lot already. Now we're hoping her next home will be the one that understands her, appreciates her for exactly who she is, and gives her the life she was meant to live.
