MIRA — One of the Miracle Three

Mira's life almost ended before it had even begun.

Her Great Pyrenees mother was taken to a veterinarian to be spayed, where it was discovered that she was carrying nine full-term puppies. Their owner didn't want the babies and asked that they all be euthanized.

But the veterinarian couldn't bring herself to end nine little lives that had a chance.

She called us instead.

We said yes.

At just two days old, Mira and her siblings came into our care without their mother. They needed an incubator to stay warm, feedings around the clock, constant monitoring and people willing to become everything their mother normally would have been.

We knew some might not survive.

Sadly, six didn't.

Mira did.

One of only three survivors, this precious little girl fought her way through those incredibly fragile first weeks and has grown into a happy, beautiful puppy with an entire life ahead of her.

There's something especially wonderful about watching Mira simply get to be a puppy—playing, learning, exploring and soaking up all the love she can get. Those ordinary puppy moments feel pretty extraordinary when you know how hard she fought to have them.

We know her mama is a Great Pyrenees. Dad? Your guess is as good as ours! Because of Mom's breed, her future family should be prepared for the possibility of a large adult dog.

Mira has already proven that she's a fighter.

But she shouldn't have to fight for anything anymore.

From here forward, we want her life filled with soft beds, adventures, belly rubs, ridiculous amounts of love—and a family who understands that forever means forever.
