ASHER — One of the Miracle Three

There were nine puppies at the beginning of Asher's story.

Today, there are three.

Asher is one of the miracles who made it.

Before he was even born, his Great Pyrenees mother was taken to a veterinary clinic to be spayed. The veterinarian discovered that she was carrying nine full-term puppies.

Their owner didn't want them.

She asked that all nine be euthanized.

The veterinarian couldn't do it—and instead made the phone call that changed everything.

She called our rescue.

We said yes.

At only two days old, Asher and his siblings came into our care without their mother. They required an incubator, feedings around the clock, constant monitoring and an experienced rehabilitator helping them through those first incredibly fragile weeks.

Despite everyone's efforts, six of the nine babies didn't survive.

But Asher kept fighting.

And look at him now.

The helpless newborn who once depended on an incubator just to stay warm has become a sweet, growing little boy with a personality of his own and a whole world waiting for him.

His mama is a Great Pyrenees, while Dad's identity remains a mystery. We can't promise exactly how big Asher will become or what he'll look like when he's grown. Because of Mom's breed, however, adopters should be prepared for the possibility of a large adult dog.

What we can promise is that Asher's next home will be chosen carefully.

He already had one person decide that his life wasn't worth the inconvenience.

Never again.

We're looking for someone who sees bringing home a puppy as a lifetime commitment—someone who will love Asher when he's tiny and adorable, when he's grown, when life gets busy and every single day in between.

He fought incredibly hard for the chance to have a life.

Now we want to make sure it's a wonderful one.
