Meet the most iconic duo since mac and cheese! Yuki and Koga are Great Pyrenees / Newfoundland mixes that are 1 year and 8 months (born 11/5/24). Yuki weighs approx. 87 pounds while Koga weighs approx. 78 pounds (as of 7/19/26). Their owners got them as puppies in North Carolina but they had to move to Alaska and couldn't find a place for them. Just like The Jeffersons, these bonded boys are moving on up to the East Coast to find their fur-ever families!
No, you're not seeing double! These boys look alike with their white fur, but Koga has a little more tan on on him and more of a Newfie face.
These boys aren't livestock guardians. They love sweet, sweet air conditioning and especially love being with their people. Of course, when temperatures are cooler and like you're on the surface of the sun, they'll gladly enjoy playing outside. Since they grew up with 5 kids and a Chinese crested dog, this duo is definitely more house/kid urban guardians. Fun fact: Yuki once jumped the fence of his family's home to chase a bear off! They don't play with threats on their territory. Talk about an adorable home security system!
Their Newfie nature especially makes them so affectionate and sweet. They've also been around a plethora of animals: cats, chickens, small and larger dogs and have done great with them all. If you're looking for the perfect combo of protector and lover, these are the boys for you!
It has taken a while to get them to be good eaters, mainly since Yuki will steal Koga's food (and Koga lets him!) But that's such bestie behavior!
They have some experience with leashes but are not crate trained. They appear to be house-trained but like any new dog, will need help adjusting to your home. They aren't phased by storms and have experience riding in a car so you know what that means... road trip!!
You know what they say: two dogs are better than one! Bring these besties home today!
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.
To adopt or learn more about Yuki and Koga, you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, copy and paste this URL into your browser: WWW.GDRNE.COM/ADOPTION-APPLICATION [Adoption Fee: $795] **

Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
