Meet Gorgeous Emma, a 6 month old female month Goldendoodle puppy, who is in an IDOG foster home in Neptune Beach, Florida.
FAST FACTS ABOUT EMMA:
*AGE: 6 months old (born March 2026)
*WEIGHT: 40 lbs.; she still has more growing to do to get to her adult weight.
*FENCE REQUIREMENT: A physical fence & yard are required. She loves to be outside & the freedom that she to run around as much as she wants in a fenced yard. No shock collars or invisible fences will be considered, as these would not set her up for success.
*COAT TYPE: Soft wavy, low-shedding coat. We don’t know what her adult coat will be like and whether it will shed. Anyone who applies for her should be OK with some shedding. Adopter should be prepared to have her groomed regularly (about every 8 weeks) with an estimated cost of $120/groom.
*ENERGY LEVEL: high puppy energy; she will need daily exercise in the form of 2-3 daily walks and free time/play time running in a fenced yard to expend her puppy energy. She will settle after exercise and cuddle with her people.
*DOGS: Yes! Emma has loved every dog she’s met. She may be a bit apprehensive when first meeting a new dog but will likely warm up quickly. She would love a playful dog in her forever home to play with.
*CATS: She is curious and likes to chase our cat along with any squirrel, lizard, frog, etc.
*KIDS: A little skittish at first and may bark at first, but then is fine. She likes to play with them. She is a puppy, so she is a little nippy and playful so any children in her forever home should be OK with a large dog who may puppy nip while she is teething.
*CAR: She is very calm and lays down for the ride.
*CRATE: She does not use a crate. We have left her at home for 3-4 hours with our dog and she has done fine. No chewing on furniture or anything. She is learning fast at our house. She hasn’t had an accident in the house since the 1st week we had her.
*HOUSE TRAINED: Yes. But if she goes to the door and you miss it she will potty on the floor. She hasn’t had an accident in the house since the 1st week we had her.
*LEASH: She is pretty good on a leash. If she sees a squirrel she will pull trying to get it. But with a correction she settles back into the walk.
*HOW IS SHE AT THE VET: The previous owner says she’s a little nervous at first then she is fine.
*HOW IS SHE WITH GROOMING: Her previous owner said she was excellent for the groomer.
*VETTING: Emma is microchipped, current on core vaccines & almost house-trained. She is on monthly heartworm/flea/tick preventives. Her fecal test was negative. She is too young to be spayed so the adopter will need to spay her at the adopter’s expense by 12 months of age.
MORE ABOUT EMMA:
Meet sweet, cuddly, and playful Emma! She is a 6 month old female Goldendoodle puppy who weighs 40 lbs. We don’t know what her adult weight will be but she may be in the 50-60 lb. range or more as an adult. She was surrendered to IDOG by her owner who loved her very much but they had mobility issues and wanted Emma to have a family who could give her the exercise, training and play time she deserves.
She loves her people and has been easy to train. She’s a puppy so she has puppy energy at times but then loves to cuddle as well. She loves to play with other dogs and chew toys.
Emma is very sweet. She loves to play with you with toys. She also loves to cuddle with you. She is almost 100% housebroken – you have to watch for her to go to the door or she will potty on the floor. She sleeps all night on the floor or on her bed in our bedroom.
Her world prior to coming in to IDOG was small and she is a bit under-socialized so can be skittish around new people and dogs. Her foster mom is taking her to new places and introducing her to new people and she is learning more about the world each day. Once she warms up to you, she loves her people!

A few “needs work” areas for Emma:
-she is skittish with new people at first. She will bark initially a couple times. She is slow to warm up but once she does, she’s very friendly and cuddly. She will bark at squirrels outside and if someone is at the front door. But it is not excessive.
-she will jumping on people to say hi
She is a puppy, so she is a little nippy and playful. I just keep replacing my fingers with a toy.
IDEAL TYPE OF HOME/FAMILY:
A home that is prepared for puppy antics and energy.
-An active dog for her to play with would be great!
-Owner who is patient & dedicated to finishing her training & socialization since she is a puppy in a big body.
-Fenced yard where she is able to run & play.
-Owner who is able to walk & ensure her exercise needs are met.
After adoption we ask that you give any rescue dog time to acclimate the 3/3/3 rule 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months. For 3 days after adoption/transition, the dog may wonder who you are, what the routine is, who the other dogs are. After about 3 weeks, the dog has typically acclimated to your schedule & knows her role in the house. After about 3 months, the dog has revealed their temperament & personality & settled in.
ADOPTION PROCESS DETAILS:
*Please read ALL the information in Emma’s listing before applying to ensure you understand what she needs to be successful in her new home.
*If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for Emma, please complete our adoption application at http://www.idogrescue.com/adoption_application (copy/paste URL into your browser).
*If you completed an adoption application in the last 6 months & would like for your application to be considered for Emma, please email that to us to rescue@idogdoodlerescue.org. You must complete our adoption application fully. If you choose not to answer all of the questions in the application, your application will not be considered. We will review your application & email you if you made our short list of applicants for Emma. Please respond within 24 hours if you receive an email from us about making our short list.
*You can check the status of her adoption at www.idogrescue.com/adopt or any of our social media pages. We will change her status to adopted when she is adopted. We base our adoption decisions on what is in the best interest of our dogs. Please note our adoption policies are in place for the safety & welfare of our dogs. We do the best that we can to get back to you in a timely manner. We believe in taking time to go through our thorough process to try to match the dog with the best fit for that dog. You must be approved to adopt Emma before we schedule a meet & greet. We do not transport our dogs.
IDOG will hold a $200 spay deposit. The adopter will be required under contract to spay her by 12 months of age. You will need to send the vet receipt to IDOG and we will then refund the deposit. If you fail to get her spayed by 12 months of age per the adoption contract terms, you will be required to return her back to IDOG Rescue.
ADOPTION FEE: $750 adoption fee + $200 refundable spay deposit to be refunded upon proof of spaying by 12 months of age.
Puppies & highly adoptable dogs have a higher adoption fee to help IDOG cover the vetting & expenses of the other dogs in IDOG whose adoption fees do not cover their expenses. Our expenses are high these days due to increased vetting expenses, board & train costs, medical/health issues & surgery that is needed for some of our dogs. IDOG relies heavily on donations to bridge the gap between our adoption fees & our expenses. Unfortunately, donations are down across the board for all rescues.
