Lucy Lou - Golden Retriever Dog for Adoption in Hilton, New York

Lucy Lou is a 5 year old puppy mill survivor who spent her early years having Golden Retriever puppies for the profit of unethical breeders. In spite of this rough start this golden girl may well be the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet.

She was only recently introduced to life outside the mill but she’s adjusting well to the good life of a dog who gets to run and play and simply be a dog. She’s loving having a fenced yard to run around in with the resident dogs in her foster home, both large and small. She’s also become fond of the miniature horse and donkeys that live on the other side of her fence. But she’s indifferent to the resident cat. In other words, we think she’ll do well with most animals!

Lucy Lou has a calming effect on those around her which is definitely not true of all dogs. Her foster family feels that due to this she has the potential to be a great therapy or emotional support dog. Maybe she’d do well being a dog that children read to to practice their language skills. She might even be able to become a service dog with the proper training. Now that she’s out of the mill and living her best life there are all sorts of possibilities for her.

Lucy Lou has been described as a joy to work with and according to her foster family her eyes when she looks at anyone will just melt your heart. She’s eager to please, loves to be brushed, and is fully potty trained.

Lucy Lou's adoption fee is $600! This adoption fee includes: her alter, a microchip, her rabies, bordetella, and age appropriate DAPP vaccines, flea/heartworm preventative, and a deworming treatment while in foster care.
