Meet Amity!

Amity is a 5-year-old, 33-pound Mini Goldendoodle who is finally getting the chance to discover what it means to be loved.

Rescued from an Amish puppy mill where she was used for breeding and denied the love, care, and attention every dog deserves, Amity is learning that life can be so much more than what she has always known. She's understandably unsure in new situations, but with the patient support of her foster family, she is making steady progress and blossoming more each day.

Amity can be hesitant when she first meets someone, but give her a little time and a couple of gentle sniffs, and that tail starts wagging! Once she feels comfortable, her sweet personality begins to shine.

She especially loves being outside and enjoys exploring the yard at her own pace. She isn't quite ready for leash walks yet, so a physically fenced yard is required. Having a safe, secure place to explore will allow Amity to continue building confidence without putting pressure on her before she's ready.

Amity feels safest with her foster mom and would happily stay as close to her as possible-pretty much all the time! Her attachment is understandable given everything she has been through, and she is learning that her people are there to keep her safe and that she can trust them.

Amity is also doing well with her crate. She goes in willingly, but if she knows her people are still in the house and she can't see them, she may whine a little. The good news is that she has steadily improved with this as she has gained confidence and learned that being separated from her person for a short time is okay.

Amity has not had a potty accident in her foster home, although adopters should understand that there can always be a learning curve when a dog moves into a new environment.

Amity would do well as an only dog or with another dog who is similar in size and energy level. A compatible canine companion could be a nice addition to her home, but she would also be perfectly happy being the center of attention.

Amity is looking for a patient, loving adopter who will let her progress at her own pace and celebrate the little victories along the way. She doesn't need someone to rush her into becoming the perfect pet-she needs someone willing to show her, one day at a time, just how wonderful being a cherished family member can be.

Her transformation is already underway, and we can't wait to see this sweet girl continue to blossom.

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
