Baby Ruth - Shih Tzu Dog for Adoption in Cincinnati, Ohio

Baby Ruth is possibly the sweetest Shih Tzu to ever exist. At 8 years old and about 15 pounds, she's the perfect package: adorable, playful, loving, and ready to live the good life that she deserves. She was a breeding mom at a puppy mill before her rescue, and despite this, she is not timid or afraid of people. In fact, Baby Ruth will approach anyone, stranger or not, because she wants nothing more than some ear scratches and a snuggle. She has the temperament of loving lap dog but still has the energy to gallop through the yard (her favorite pastime) or play with our resident dog. She also has the softest hair (non-shedding) and seems to melt with happiness when you give her love-it's almost too cute.

Baby Ruth has done great in a household with another dog, especially a dog that will interact with her. However, she would also do well in a household without another dog, especially if she's getting lots of attention. She is crate trained and will bark a bit when we leave the house, but she settles quickly. She has also free roamed the house while we were away for a few hours and she definitely prefers this. She sleeps in her crate in the same room as her foster parents, and she prefers this because she likes to know her people are nearby. She is also 99% house trained and loves to run around a fenced in yard. She can walk on a leash but has not shown interest in walks at this time; she has happily accepted stroller rides to the farmers market, though. With her sweet temperament, we do think she would do great with kids, though we do not have any in our household currently. Baby Ruth is truly a phenomenal dog and any family will be so lucky to have her.

All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
