Ginger is a beautiful 3-year-old German Shepherd weighing approximately 62 pounds, and while she's been patiently waiting for her forever family, we know the right person is worth waiting for.

Ginger isn't the type of dog who shows you everything on day one. She's the kind of dog who slowly lets you in, and when she does, she gives you her whole heart. Watching her blossom has been one of the greatest joys for her foster family.

Since leaving the shelter, Ginger has discovered just how wonderful life can be. She's learned that people can be kind, she's building confidence every day, and she's found pure happiness in playing with other dogs. She's smart, affectionate, delightfully goofy, and has a playful personality that keeps everyone smiling. Every week, another wonderful piece of Ginger's personality shines through.

She absolutely loves to roughhouse and wrestle with other dogs, so she'd thrive with a confident canine companion her size or larger who enjoys an energetic play style and can keep up with this fun-loving girl. Because of her enthusiasm for play, she isn't the best match for cats.

Like many shepherds, Ginger is incredibly intelligent—and just a little bit mischievous! She'll happily keep you on your toes and may even try to outsmart you from time to time, but it's all part of her charm. She'll do best with someone familiar with shepherds or another experienced dog owner who appreciates her intelligence and enjoys continuing her training.

A fenced yard is high on Ginger's wish list. She loves having space to run, play, and stretch her legs before coming inside to relax with her family.

Ginger would do well with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to respectfully interact with dogs and can participate in her continued journey of building confidence.

She isn't looking for a perfect family—she's looking for her family. Someone who understands that the strongest bonds are built over time, who appreciates a little shepherd sass, and who will celebrate every milestone alongside her.
