He generally becomes comfortable with women more quickly, while men often need a little extra time and patience to earn his trust. But beneath that uncertainty is a dog who wants to connect. When given space and the opportunity to move at his own pace, Simba slowly begins to let his guard down.

As trust develops, Simba has shown a sweet, affectionate side. He has started accepting pets from trusted people, walking with volunteers, and even allowing several male volunteers to leash and walk him successfully. Once he feels safe, he has been known to offer gentle kisses and quietly enjoy affection from the people he trusts.

Simba's journey isn't about teaching commands or perfect obedience. It's about helping him discover that the world is not as scary as it seems. He responds well to calm, patient handling and benefits from people who allow him to approach and engage on his own terms.
