Introducing Candy
Age: ~2 years
Location: Foster Home
Spayed: Yes
Candy didn't come to us knowing what it felt like to be
loved.
She came in as a stray, just trying to survive...raising
seven babies on her own, unsure of people and doing
everything she could to keep her distance. Even after
being brought into rescue, she didn't trust us. She
didn't want to be touched. She didn't want to come
inside. At one point, she even escaped because being
close to people was just too overwhelming.
But her story didn't end there.
With time, patience, and a foster who refused to give
up on her, Candy began to change. Little by little, she
started to feel safe. And then something incredible
happened...
She started choosing people.
Now, Candy is crate trained, house trained, and living
in a home where she's learning what it means to be
part of a family. She gets along well with other dogs, is
respectful around cats, and has even begun to seek out
affection from her foster and their 9-year-old son.
She's still a softer, more sensitive soul-but that's what
makes her so special. Every bit of love she gives is
something she had to learn to trust.
Candy is heartworm positive and on the slow kill
treatment, and she has a calm, moderate energy level
that fits beautifully into a peaceful home.
Candy doesn't need a perfect home. She needs a
patient one. A home that understands where she came
from and is willing to continue showing her that she's
safe, she's wanted, and she's finally home.
From feral and fearful...to gentle and learning to
love-Candy is ready for her forever.
