Meet Penelope (aka Miss P)!
Miss P is a sweet, lovable French Bulldog searching for a family to call her very own.
When Penelope first came into foster care, we took her in as a hospice foster due to her diagnosis of hydrocephalus. Today, we're thrilled to say that this special little girl is doing so well that she's ready to find her forever home.
So what exactly is hydrocephalus? Hydrocephalus is a condition where cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) builds up within the brain's ventriclesoften referred to as "water on the brain. While hydrocephalus can sound scary, Penelope's condition is currently stable and well-managed. She continues to surprise everyone with her resilience, happy spirit, and love for life
While she does have a few quirks related to her condition, they don't slow her down much. She can be a little wobbly at times, occasionally walks in wide circles, and potty training has been more challenging for her. Other than that, she's a happy, playful puppy who loves life and enjoys all the things a typical dog does.
The only extra care Penelope requires is medication given twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. It can simply be mixed into her food, making her care routine easy to manage.
Penelope is a professional snuggler and would love nothing more than a family who wants to spoil her rotten. She enjoys exploring outside, chasing balls, and regularly gets the zoomies with her canine friends. When playtime is over, she's more than happy to curl up in your lap for a cuddle session.
Miss P loves other dogs, though she doesn't always realize that not every dog appreciates an enthusiastic puppy barking in their face. Because of this, she'd do best with a tolerant canine companion. She's also met cats and done well with them. Toddlers? She adores themespecially when they're handing out snuggles.
Like many Frenchies, Penelope has opinions and isn't afraid to share them. She can be vocal, particularly when she's left in her kennel, so a home with shared walls may not be the best fit. While she'll tolerate a crate when necessary, she much prefers relaxing in a puppy pen with a cozy bed.
Her biggest challenge is potty training. Penelope does go potty outside when taken out consistently and often follows the lead of her dog friends. However, her hydrocephalus can make house training more difficult, and she tends to urinate more frequently than the average dog. Because of this, a home with minimal carpeting would likely be ideal for both Penelope and her future family.
At the end of the day, Miss P isn't looking for perfection. She's looking for someone who will see how special she is, embrace her little quirks, and love her exactly as she is.
If you're ready to make Penelope the center of your world and give her the life she deserves, we'd love to hear from you. Fill out an application to learn more about Miss P and schedule a meet-and-greet with this extraordinary little girl.
