Foxhound Dogs Available for Adoption in Andover, Massachusetts

This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Roughly 90% of our dogs are successfully long distance adopted and 10% adopted locally.

Meet Cookie, a 3-year-old Foxhound mix, weighing approx. 45-60 pounds (as of 5/3/26). This adorable girl was a stray in Mississippi and can't wait to find her fur-ever home! If you're a fan of cookies for breakfast, then she's the girl for you!

Cookie is a low energy gal who's more than happy to switch up her activity if there's a sugar rush. She's great in adapting to her environment and will take her human's lead. When she's not baking various cookies for the next bake sale, you can find her making friends with strangers and kids. While Cookie doesn't mind other dogs, she is definitely more interested in humans. Could be the treats! She hasn't been exposed to cats, but maybe they'll like her special recipe once she meets them.

Cookie's a sweet gal who's good with crates and leashes (though she'll pull forward at times when she's excited). She hopes you'll help her master house-training. She's trying her best! Her favorite time of the day is lounging around the couch giving snuggles or walking outside and sniffing everything.

Sweeter than oatmeal raisin, snickerdoodle and chocolate chip, Cookie hopes to make everyday with you scrumptious!

All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
