Meet Beau, a 1.5-year-old Foxhound mix, weighing 40 pounds (as of 5/4/26). Beau was living the stray life and hopping trains until he somehow found his way to rural Virginia! But his journey north continues because he can't wait to find his fur-ever family in New England!
Despite his slight shyness, this little guy is a heart stealer. And honestly, his shyness makes him even cuter! Beau loves attention, playing with toys and
engaging with other dogs. He doesn't have experience with kids or cats yet, but he hopes to steal their hearts too. Look at those beautiful almond eyes! Those are truly his greatest weapon to get anyone to fall in love with him.
Beau is also on his way to become the perfect gentleman. He loves to pose and cross his paws to show how classy he is. Beau's also fine in a crate and eats in them. We presume he's house-trained since he only had accidents in the beginning while staying at his foster's house, but Beau asks for patience as he adjusts to your home. He doesn't have a lot of experience on a leash but once he's on, he'll pull to the side, never straight on. We don't really know why he does this, but we love a quirky boy!
Medical Disclosure: Beau is positive for Lyme disease which can be treated with antibiotics from a vet.
Playful, classic and with eyes that'll melt your heart, Beau is one-of-a-kind!
All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.

PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. From time to time we receive new information/photos of a dog and we do recreate their listing, which means their old listing link will no longer be valid. If you are considering a dog but don't apply right away please make sure to search for the dog by name if the link you have no longer works.
Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Note that if the dog is listed as an "Out of town pet" there are NOT additional transport fees - it is included in our adoption fee Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted. To learn more about our *shelterless* rescue, adoption fees, and procedures, review the list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website at WWW.GDRNE.COM.
