Meet Loki Asgard
Loki Asgard is a 5-year-old English Bulldog with the softest heart and the sweetest little soul. Around the house, he's lovingly known as "Wokee" or "Woker" - nicknames he happily responds to with adorable little bulldog wiggles whenever his people come home.
This handsome red-and-white boy is incredibly affectionate and deeply attached to his people. Loki's favorite thing in the world is simply being near you - curled up beside you on the couch, soaking up attention, or quietly following the sun from one cozy nap spot to another. He especially loves backing himself up against his people so they can scratch his head and back just the way he likes it. He's a champion snuggler with a sensitive spirit and a lot of love to give.
Loki thrives in a calm, quiet home environment. He can become overwhelmed by loud activity, busy gatherings, or too much commotion, and because of this, he will need to be in an adult-only home with no children. His ideal forever family will understand that he's a gentle, emotional boy who feels safest when life is peaceful and predictable. While he may be a little shy and easily startled at times, he is never aggressive - just sensitive and searching for reassurance.
While Loki struggled living with another dominant male bulldog, he recently showed everyone a completely different side of himself after meeting a 3-year-old female.. Within a few days the two had completely bonded. They cuddle together, groom each other, play beautifully, and walk side by side with remarkable gentleness. It became very clear that Loki is capable of forming deep, healthy bonds when paired with the right energy and companionship. He would likely do best with a calm, confident female dog that respects his boundaries and will back away appropriately if he gives a correction or warning.
Loki is what his foster family lovingly calls "very needy" in the most endearing way possible. If someone else is getting pets, Loki will gently wiggle his way into the middle because clearly all affection should also belong to him. He adores people and bonds deeply with his humans. When he gets especially happy or excited, he can be a bit drooly - classic bulldog style. He also has a tendency to hump when overstimulated or excited, but he responds well to correction and stops when redirected or gently prodded to stop.
A few of Loki's favorite things:
Cozy beds and soft blankies
Sunbathing indoors or outside on the patio
Weekly "brushy" sessions outside with his grooming mitt
Elk antlers and Kong chews
Frozen dog yogurt treats
Scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, plain yogurt, or the occasional special steak treat
Being told "Nigh Nigh Woker" before bedtime
Loki is fully house trained and crate trained. He knows several commands including sit, stay, down, leave it, and "outside potty." At bedtime, he prefers sleeping in bed with his people, but he has also been known to happily sleep in his own bed or inside his crate, which is covered with a blanket to create his own cozy little "fort" - always with the crate door left open.
One thing to know about Loki: this boy LOVES food. Meals are very exciting, and he tends to inhale his food like a tiny bulldog vacuum cleaner. His family has worked on polite mealtime manners by having him sit and stay before being released to eat, which helps channel his enthusiasm.
Loki is also wonderfully cooperative with grooming and handling. He takes baths very well, walks politely on the left side without pulling on the leash, and allows his nails to be trimmed and grinded without much fuss. He also tolerates having his nose rope and tail pocket cleaned like a champ - all important bulldog maintenance tasks that he handles very patiently.
Loki also has a few classic bulldog quirks:
He sheds quite a bit (weekly brushing helps!)
He needs nose balm a couple times a week for his dry bulldog nose
He has seasonal allergies that are managed with Apoquel
Pumpkin helps settle his tummy if he occasionally gets an upset stomach
Despite his sensitivities, Loki is an incredibly loving and loyal companion. Loki isn't looking for perfection. He's looking for patience, kindness, soft blankets, sunny spots, and someone who will love him exactly as he is. And in return, you'll get a loyal little shadow who just wants to be close to his people and feel safe, loved, and home.
