Frosty, 2 years old, neutered male, Dogo Argentino/Labrador mix, 61 pounds. He is in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS and able to transport once matched to an adopter.

Meet Frosty — a handsome, affectionate boy with a smart mind and a heart full of love. Frosty is the kind of dog who can keep up with an active lifestyle while also being perfectly happy to curl up next to you for cuddle time at the end of the day.

Frosty has excellent dog manners and adjusts his play style to match the energy of his canine companions. Whether another dog wants to wrestle and play or simply coexist peacefully, Frosty is happy to follow their lead. He reads social cues well and knows when another dog has had enough. He typically interacts with dogs his size or larger and has been taught to respectfully ignore smaller dogs.

On walks, he’s confident and social but usually prefers focusing on his person rather than other dogs around him.

He’s also cat-friendly and plays gently with feline friends, backing off respectfully if a cat lets him know they want space. Because of his size and enthusiasm, Frosty would likely do best in a home with older children.

Frosty is fully house-trained and has excellent manners in the home. While he can tolerate short periods in a crate, he has proven himself trustworthy when left loose in the house for several hours at a time. He does best when he gets regular exercise and mental stimulation to keep his active mind engaged.

This boy is incredibly smart, eager to please, and loves learning new things. Training comes naturally to him, especially when treats are involved — and Frosty is definitely food motivated! He currently eats separately from other dogs because he tends to finish meals quickly and happily volunteer to help with everyone else’s food too.

Frosty is calm and friendly when meeting new people, rides well in the car, handles stairs with ease, and settles in nicely wherever he goes. While toys aren’t currently his biggest interest, being close to his people absolutely is. He’s affectionate, cuddly, and happiest when he can be part of the family.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who is smart, loving, trainable, and ready for adventures as well as couch snuggles, Frosty may be your perfect match.

Please note our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview. This is followed by a video call with the foster home. Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process. Transport is included in our adoption donation.
