Labrador Retriever and American Staffordshire Terrier Dogs Available for Adoption in Martinez, California

Our process begins with an application. If we believe it may be a good match, we will reach out to schedule a phone interview, followed by a video call with the foster home. A virtual home visit, along with personal and veterinary reference checks, are required to complete the adoption process. Once approved, the dog will be placed on the next available transport, which runs every few weeks and is included in the adoption donation. If you are not able to welcome a dog until a later date, please wait to apply until that time.

We are a volunteer-run rescue and donate our time to help these dogs find homes. If you are not serious about moving forward with the adoption process, please do not apply. Meet Bodie — aka Tank, as he’s affectionately called — your classic lovable “bubba” puppy with a big appetite for life and gorgeous green eyes. At 14 weeks old, this Lab/Pit mix is being fostered in Austin, Texas and is expected to grow into a large dog. With his goofy charm and easygoing nature, Tank is the kind of pup who will keep you laughing one minute and passed out snoring the next.

Bodie (Tank) is available for adoption out-of-state. Transport can be arranged for approved adopters and is included in the adoption donation. Our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we’ll reach out to coordinate a phone interview, followed by a video call with his foster home. A virtual home visit, along with personal and vet reference checks, are required to complete the process.

Bodie and his siblings came into rescue dealing with a skin condition that caused some hair loss, but they’ve fully recovered and are now just in the healing phase while their coats grow back in. It doesn’t bother him at all — he’s too busy being a happy, thriving puppy — and his coat should be back in no time.

Tank is exactly what you’d expect from a puppy with a nickname like his — his three main interests are eat, play, sleep, and honestly, he’s pretty committed to all three. He’s always ready for a snack and is currently working on learning a little patience around mealtime (it’s a work in progress, but he’s trying). Shake a treat bag and he’ll come running every time — motivation is not an issue here.

He’s playful, goofy, and full of that joyful puppy energy, but he also has an off switch. He can fall asleep within seconds, often after a big yawn, and then wake up ready to find his humans like, “hi, I missed you.” When he’s in the mood, he’s incredibly cuddly and loves a good belly rub, happily melting into you for some affection.

He’s great with other dogs and enjoys a fun, bouncy play style. He hasn’t been around cats or children yet, but he would likely do well in a home with respectful kids who understand how to interact with a puppy.

Tank is learning quickly and already starting to pick up on things like coming when called (especially if snacks are involved). Like any puppy his age, he’s still working on house training and will need a family committed to consistency, patience, and structure. He’s also not leash trained yet, so his future family should be ready to guide him as he builds confidence out in the world.

Because he’s still young and learning, Tank will do best in a home where someone is around more often than not to support his development and give him the time and attention he needs to thrive.

Bodie is expected to grow into a large dog, and he’ll need a family ready to embrace both his size and his big, goofy personality as he continues to grow into the best kind of best friend.
