DESCRIPTION

Meet Misty

Misty is a 2-year-old, 42-pound Dalmatian/Catahoula mix with a pathological enthusiasm for inclusion and absolutely no interest in cultivating mystique.

Walk? This is Misty.
Long run? Extremely Misty.
Car ride? Already waiting.
Fetch? Please throw it again immediately.
Attempting to compress 42 pounds of spotted mammal into your lap through sheer conviction? Also Misty.

And she is absolutely beautiful. Misty has the softest coat, a gentle nature with humans, and an enormous capacity for affection. She loves her toys, lives for a good game of fetch, thinks rolling around in the grass is a perfectly legitimate hobby, and will happily join you for long walks or runs. She walks nicely on leash, and once the day's activities are complete, she's more than ready to cuddle beside you on the sofa or curl up in her bed.

Misty is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and ready for her next chapter.

While Misty has successfully participated in doggy daycare and can enjoy playing with other dogs, we've learned more about what makes her happiest at home. She has occasionally over-corrected other dogs and has shown some resource guarding around high-value items like bones and special treats. For that reason, we're looking for a home where Misty can be the only pet and soak up all the attention for herself.

And honestly? She is prepared for the position.

Cats, birds, and squirrels should also sit this one out. Misty's feelings about small furry and feathered creatures lean heavily toward CHASE, so a home without them is important.

At home, she's almost offensively civilized. Misty has never needed a crate and can be trusted to free roam when left alone. She is affectionate, people-loving, athletic, playful, and always interested in whatever her humans are doing. A secure yard would be wonderful for fetch, grass-rolling, zooming, and other official Misty business.

Then there is the part Misty cannot understand.

Her beloved owner entered memory care, and the person around whom her entire world was organized suddenly disappeared from it. A caring neighbor stepped in to help her, but there is no vocabulary that explains memory care to a dog.

She only knows she used to belong somewhere.

Misty has already known what it feels like to be someone's beloved dog. Now she needs a family who will give her that security again, this time with no other pets competing for her space or treasures.

Bring the car keys, walking shoes, tennis balls, a comfy sofa, and a lap with structurally questionable load-bearing expectations.

Misty will handle the rest.
