Adopt Barney!
Barney is an adorable 5-month-old, 19-pound mixed-breed puppy with short little legs and a personality that gets sillier by the day. His mama was a petite 25-pound Dachshund-type dog, but dad is a complete mystery! What do you think he's mixed with?
Barney is very dog friendly and loves having a canine buddy to play with, so another friendly, playful dog will be required in his adoptive home. He started out shy, but each day he's showing more of his silly, sweet personality. He loves belly rubs, toys, playing with his dog friends, and curling up in a dog bed for a good nap.
Barney is crate trained. He may bark for the first few minutes but quickly settles himself. Housebreaking is still a work in progress, and he's getting more comfortable walking on a leash. His favorite move is flopping down in the grass in the middle of a walk.
He does great in the car, exploring for a bit before settling in for a nap. He has a nice medium energy level and loves to play just as much as he loves to nap. A fenced yard isn't required, but he would definitely enjoy one. Cats and children are currently unknown.
And because Barney is such a little shortie, he sometimes needs a helping hand getting onto the couch for snuggles.

ABOUT: DACHSHUND DOG BREED
The dachshund is a small dog breed known for its long body, short legs, and distinctive appearance. Originally bred for hunting badgers, these playful and loyal dogs make loving companions for families. Dachshunds come in three coat varieties smooth, wirehaired, and longhaired each with its own unique charm. Despite their size, dachshunds are bold and courageous, with a curious nature that can sometimes lead to mischief. Their endearing personality and adaptability make them popular pets worldwide.
The Shar Pei is a distinctive breed known for their deep wrinkles and blue black tongue. Originally from China, these medium sized dogs are loyal, independent, and protective of their families. Shar Peis have a unique appearance with a hippopotamus like face and a broad, padded muzzle. Their coat can be either horse coat or brush coat, coming in a variety of colors.
