DESCRIPTION

Meet Layla
Layla is a shy puppy mill survivor who is simply trying to learn how to be brave in a world that still feels very big and unfamiliar.

She’s been in rescue since August, and the best way to describe her is… a little like 50 First Dates. Each day feels new to her. Each day, she relearns that she’s safe.

That’s the reality for dogs like Layla. She didn’t grow up as a pet. She had no real human interaction, no understanding of life outside of a cage. Everything we take for granted—stairs, leashes, food bowls, trust—are all things she is still learning, slowly and gently.

Her Journey So Far

In her foster home, Layla has made quiet but meaningful progress. She has learned to trust enough to accept love—and even, at times, to ask for it. That may sound small, but for Layla, it’s huge.

Getting here has taken patience, consistency, and a lot of simply letting her move at her own pace. With Layla, it’s less about training and more like a game of chess—waiting, watching, and letting her decide when she’s ready for the next move.

What Layla Needs

Because of her past, Layla will need a very specific kind of home:

A calm, patient environment
A confident, friendly dog to help guide her
A fully secure, fenced yard (this is not optional)
Someone who understands that progress will be slow—but meaningful
Layla is not leash-trained yet and isn’t ready for that step. She also doesn’t understand stairs beyond a single step, so a home with minimal stairs (or someone willing to carry her) is important.

Her Daily Life

Layla has her own little routines:

She prefers to eat her meals placed on the floor of her kennel—bowls are still too unfamiliar
At night, she’s gently carried upstairs and sleeps peacefully in a dog bed next to her canine friend
Potty training is a work in progress—she’s not the worst, but she’s not fully reliable yet
The Honest Part

We know this may sound like a lot. And the truth is—it is.

Layla is not an easy dog. She won’t be the kind of dog who goes on walks right away, greets strangers, or jumps into a new life with confidence.

But she is the kind of dog who, given time, patience, and love, will quietly blossom into something incredibly special.

Why She’s Worth It

Layla didn’t get to choose her past. She was used for breeding, not loved as a companion.

Now she deserves a future where she is safe, understood, and cherished for exactly who she is.

For the right person—the one who sees her, truly sees her—Layla will be a deeply rewarding companion. Every tiny step forward will feel like a victory. Every moment of trust will mean everything.

If you’re reading this and thinking,
“I understand her. I have the patience. I want to help her heal,”

…then Layla might just be waiting for you.

Adoption fee is $250
