Chelsea is a 4.5-year-old Chow Chow who came to the shelter underweight at just 22 pounds, matted, filthy, and understandably a bit skeptical of the world around her. After a good bath, a thorough brush out, and some much-needed care, Chelsea is already looking and feeling much better, has reached a healthy weight, and continues to thrive.

Like many Chow Chows, Chelsea has a strong sense of independence and a personality all her own. She can be reserved when meeting new people and appreciates being allowed to warm up on her own terms. While she may not be the kind of dog who instantly wants to be everyone's best friend, Chelsea has shown that with patience, understanding, and respect, she is capable of forming meaningful bonds. Chelsea's ideal home is with an experienced Chow Chow owner or someone who understands and appreciates the breed's unique traits, independence, and quirks. She is looking for a family that will give her the time, space, and consistency she needs to settle in and feel secure.

Chelsea was previously spayed and microchipped. She is current on vaccines, dewormed, heartworm tested, and on monthly preventatives.
