Zuko *Arriving 11/6* D12948 - Chihuahua and Dachshund Dog for Adoption

Zuko is a little guy with a very important mission: to make sure his humans never go a day without affection! This sweet Chihuahua came from the same difficult situation as Zach, and he's now learning what it means to leave outdoor life behind and enjoy the comforts of being an indoor dog. He's adjusting to home life, working on his house manners, and discovering all the wonderful things that come with having people who care about him.
And when it comes to love, Zuko knows exactly how to ask for it! One of his signature moves is walking right over and standing on your legs, as if to say, "Excuse me, I believe you owe me some affection!" He isn't much of a player, because honestly, why chase toys when you could be getting cuddles from your favorite human? Zuko is happiest when he's close to his people, soaking up attention and reminding everyone that he is, in fact, available for snuggles at all times.
Zuko is still learning how to navigate life indoors, so he'll need a patient adopter who can give him time to adjust, build confidence, and learn the ropes. He's a loving little guy with so much affection to give, and having someone who understands that new experiences can take time will help him feel secure as he settles into his forever home.
He currently lives with other Chihuahuas, but he can be a bit of a bully toward the younger boys. As he becomes more comfortable and continues learning appropriate social skills, this behavior may improve. Careful introductions, supervision, and a thoughtful match will be important when considering canine companions for him.
Zuko isn't looking for a home filled with endless games or exciting activities. He wants something much simpler and much sweeter: a person who will love him, give him time to settle in, and let him be close. He's ready to trade his uncertain past for a cozy bed, a safe home, and all the affection his little heart can handle.

Zuko is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 11/6/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and 11:00am. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. This pet is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease. Activity must be restricted for several weeks during recovery. RSR will cover the full cost of treatment. RSR will provide heartworm preventatives until the retest is due. The adopter will be responsible for scheduling the retest and obtaining any follow-up prescriptions through their veterinarian.
