14 years old - Chihuahua mix - Expert-level snuggler

Peanut may have been a little nervous when she first arrived at her foster home, but it took her no time to figure out the situation: the couch is comfy, the humans have laps, and blankets are basically a lifestyle. She's been clocked in as a full-time snuggle specialist ever since!

In fact, she's so committed to her cozy lifestyle that she's practically impossible to photograph. She's either buried under a blanket like a tiny burrito or glued to a human like she's afraid they'll forget she's there.

Peanut is a sweet, quiet, low-energy girl whose favorite activities include napping, requesting pets, warming laps, and following her favorite people around the house. She's not looking for a hiking buddy or a personal trainer. She wants a cozy home, a warm sweater, and someone to love. Simple pleasures, people!

A few things her future family should know:
• She likes her personal space. Peanut can be shy at first, but warms up with patience. She may growl if disturbed while snoozing under her blankets, so she'd do best with adults or older kids who understand and respect her boundaries.
• Walks are best with a little distance. She's leash-reactive toward other dogs and appreciates having room to herself. Her compatibility with other dogs and cats is unknown.
• She's a toothless wonder! Peanut recently had 29 teeth removed and needs to stay on a wet-food diet. She's also prone to getting chilly, so sweaters and vests are very much in season in her world.
• Potty breaks need a little planning. She seems to be housebroken, but her small size and age mean she can't always hold it very long. Someone home frequently or a family comfortable with pee pads would be ideal.
• She's crate trained and walks nicely on leash. And did we mention she's a wonderfully quiet housemate?

Peanut is proof that the best things in life aren't big adventures—they're warm blankets, gentle affection, and having someone nearby who makes you feel safe.

Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Originating from Mexico, these dogs are known for their large, expressive eyes and alert, curious nature. Chihuahuas make excellent companions, forming strong bonds with their owners and displaying a protective nature.
