Sage in Texarkana TX - Chihuahua and Rat Terrier Dog for Adoption in Texarkana, Texas

Sage is a female tricolor chihuahua/rat terrier or similar mix. We estimate her to be 2 years old and she weighs 7-8 lbs. Sage is spayed, vaccinated and heartworm negative. She is ready for adoption.

Sage was surrendered to a Louisiana shelter along with several other dogs 2/12/2026. Sage is a little shy, but warms up in a few days.. She is sweet and gentle with an alert, intelligent face. Sage gets along well with her sister Basil and they could be adopted together if someone is looking for a pair, but we also think they can thrive separately given the right opportunity. Sage is dog and cat friendly. She is also potty and kennel trained.

A completed adoption application and, upon approval, an adoption contract is required. Jeff Tarpley Rescue welcomes applications from homeowners, renters, and condo or apartment dwellers. At a minimum, a phone interview will be conducted and a vet reference checked before the applicant may meet their preferred pet.

We adopt primarily in the 4 states of the ArkLaTexOma. Applicants willing to travel to Texarkana will also be considered with additional requirements to qualify as approved.
