Britney is looking for a home where she can be the center of attention! She is a very sweet, blind Chihuahua who weighs 10 pounds and is estimated to be around 5-6 years old.
Britney came to our rescue from a hoarding situation in Connecticut. She has a neurological condition that affects her balance and coordination. She shows signs of vestibular impairment, some weakness on her right side, and frontal lobe and optic nerve abnormalities that have left her completely blind. We believe she was likely born blind or lost her vision very early in life. She navigates impressively well, can climb stairs, and will follow the sound of your voice with ease.
Britney is a happy, affectionate little dog who adapts remarkably well. It might take her a few days/weeks to adjust in a new environment, but once she's comfortable, she will have no issues.
For the past 5 months, Britney has been living here as a permanent resident. Initially, we were observing her neurological condition to see if her symptoms progressed. After she settled in, we thought she may be happiest staying here. However, while Britney has been doing very well, she has made it clear that she'd prefer a home with fewer dogs to share the limelight.
She is friendly with other dogs, but she's not a fan of sharing her space with a large pack and everything that entails. She will growl at other dogs who come too close while she's sleeping and will steal other dogs' food, so it's best to keep her separate. She was rescued from a hoarding situation, so these behaviors aren't unexpected.
Considering her past, we know Britney will love a home with 1-2 other dogs so she can truly experience life as the center of attention!
Britney is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and recently had full blood work.
