Dansir is ready for a loving home. This adorable Shih Tzu mix is 14 years old and weighs 13 pounds. Dansir came to us when his elderly owner could no longer care for him. He's settled nicely into our routine, but he's ready to find a new home and a family to love him.
This sweet boy gets along wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys being held, cuddled, and petted. He isn't overly vocal, but he has his own way of letting us know when he needs something. When he's hungry, wants us to open a pen, or needs a little help coming back inside after exploring the yard, he'll let out a few raspy howls to get our attention. It's like a little lion's roar!
When Dansir first arrived, he needed some TLC. He was treated for ear infections, dry eye, and a hot spot, and he's feeling much better. He'll continue to improve with regular grooming and continued care.
Medically, Dansir has a mild grade 1 heart murmur. His blood work looks good overall. He's taking Cyclosporine to treat his dry eye and should remain on that indefinitely. He also has a nodule on his rear end that does not currently need treatment but can occasionally bleed. Keeping the area clean and ensuring he is regularly groomed will help manage it.
Dansir is still intact and could benefit from a dental. However, because of some cognitive changes, we decided that putting him under anesthesia was not the best option at this time.
Dansir is up to date on vaccinations and recently had full blood work. If you're interested in giving Dansir a home, please complete an adoption application at https://www.vintagepetrescue.org/adopt
