Stacy - Chihuahua Dog for Adoption in Brookings, South Dakota

Meet Stacy! Stacy is a 10 month old long hair chihuahua. Stacy is spayed and medically up-to-date, meaning she’s all set to find her forever home. She also gets along well with small dogs, though we’re not sure about large dogs, cats, or kids. Stacy is working on her potty-training and uses potty pads well.

Stacy is from a group of six chihuahuas, of which all six have a reported history of seizures according to their previous owner; however, they had not received veterinary care or treatment for this condition prior to coming into our care.

They may require medication and more frequent veterinary monitoring depending on the severity and frequency of their seizures. We have observed seizures in two of the six dogs while they have been in our care. At this time, we are monitoring their seizure frequency and patterns before determining whether medication is appropriate.

An adopter should work closely with their veterinarian to develop an individualized plan based on each dog’s seizure activity and how they adjust to their new home environment.

Since many of our adoptable dogs are in foster homes, appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. Please call or e-mail the shelter to set up an appointment to meet and adopt!

Our adoption fees include the following: all of our dogs/puppies are current on vaccinations (DHPP and Rabies if over 3 months of age) at the point of adoption, dewormed, heartworm tested and current on preventative, microchipped, treated for fleas/ticks and are spayed or neutered. Our large dog adoption fee is generally $175 + tax. Our small dog and puppy adoption fee is generally $300+ tax. Adoption fees may vary in special circumstances. Due to space limitations, we do not hold dogs.

Because we are on a busy street, we require that all dogs leaving the shelter be in a carrier or on leash. All pets remain up for adoption until an approved application is processed and their adoption fee paid.
