Meet Beignet, a 3.5-year-old, 15-pound Pug/Chihuahua mix with equal parts snuggle and spunk.
Beignet came to Take Paws through no fault of her own. Her family's situation changed, and they could no longer give her the time and attention she deserves. Now she's looking for a new family to love-and she has plenty of love to give.
Beignet is a total lap dog who loves cuddling, being carried around, and burrowing under a blanket-especially her own. She's perfectly happy snoozing the afternoon away near her people, but don't let her cozy side fool you. The second that leash comes out, Beignet is READY. She loves walks, backyard exploring, and tagging along for coffee or lunch outings, so she'd love a family that enjoys keeping their little sidekick included and active.
She's potty trained, free roams the house, walks beautifully on leash, and already knows an impressive list of commands, including sit, come, here, off, go lay down, and "in your crate." At night, she currently sleeps independently in her own bed.
Beignet does well with other dogs and hasn't shown any territorial or jealous behavior. Cats are unknown, although she seems unfazed by the ones she passes on walks. Because she can get very excited, we think a home with older kids would be the best fit.
With new people, Beignet can be a little skeptical and may appreciate a slower introduction. Once she decides you're one of her people, though, she's an affectionate, cuddly little shadow. Her excitement can sometimes get the best of her-especially when something fun is about to happen-so she'll benefit from someone willing to continue helping her practice staying calm.
Beignet is spayed, up to date on vaccines and prevention, and heartworm negative.
This little lady is looking for the best of both worlds: plenty of walks and adventures, followed by plenty of blanket-covered lap time. If your idea of the perfect dog is part adventure buddy, part professional snuggler, Beignet may be your girl.
