DOTTIE DUMPLING, HEIRESS TO THE DOT FORTUNE
At only 11 months old and 35 pounds, Dottie Dumpling has accumulated an unreasonable amount of visual information. She is an Australian Cattle Dog/Husky mix featuring one spectacular ice-blue eye, one mysterious counterpart, a strategically deployed eye patch, innumerable freckles, and the facial symmetry of a small Picasso with excellent intentions.
She is also deaf, which Dottie regards as approximately the 47th most interesting thing about herself.
The more consequential information is that she is preposterously sweet. Loving, cuddly, house trained, and genuinely such a good girl that one begins to suspect she is laundering somebody else's behavioral record. She watches her humans closely, learns through visual cues and routine, and has mastered the ancient deaf-dog art of sleeping peacefully through things everybody else has decided are emergencies.
Dottie would do best with a companion dog. She loves having a canine friend, and another dog provides useful environmental intelligence. If Dog gets up, Dottie gets up. If Dog investigates, Dottie investigates. If Dog has discovered cheese, this information reaches the Dumpling with astonishing bureaucratic efficiency.
Mostly, she wants closeness. A dog friend. A human friend. Preferably several soft surfaces upon which these parties can assemble.
She doesn't need sympathy for being deaf. She needs someone who understands that communication was never limited to sound in the first place.
Some dogs hear their name and come running. Dottie will learn to look for you instead. There is something awfully lovely about being the person a dog learns to watch for.

Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as our website, Chewy, Pet Finder, and others. These are in no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
***Take Paws Rescue, based in New Orleans, saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures.
