Meet Billie Jean, a beautiful, super petite Catahoula mix weighing only 25 pounds, with a personality that is somehow even bigger than her heart.
At just about 9 months old, Billie Jean is ridiculously sweet, incredibly affectionate, and endlessly playful. And when we say playful, we mean it. Everything in life is a fun game to this girl. She is the kind of dog who wakes up ready to see what adventure the day has in store!

A pool day? She's ready.
A nice walk? Absolutely.
A car ride? She's already waiting by the door.
A trip to a dog-friendly restaurant or bar? Billie Jean would love to be your date!

She is both dog friendly and cat friendly, and she would love nothing more than to become someone's very best friend. Whether you're looking for a walking companion, an adventure buddy, a passenger for your next road trip, or simply a sweet little shadow to follow you around the house, Billie Jean is ready to fill that role.
But as happy and playful as Billie Jean is today, her story is heartbreaking.
Her original owner chose to move away and left her sitting in the front yard of the house she once called home.
And Billie Jean didn't understand that they weren't coming back.
She didn't run away. She didn't wander off looking for somewhere else to go.
She stayed.
For three days, this little baby girl refused to leave the doorstep, waiting for the people she loved to return for her..

Thankfully, a kind neighbor finally realized they weren't coming back and took Billie Jean in. Our rescue immediately stepped in and took over her care that same day, and she has been with us ever since.
It honestly blows our minds that anyone could have ever left this incredible little girl behind.

Billie Jean is fun, loving, silly, affectionate, adventurous, and just genuinely wonderful. She doesn't care what you're doing as long as she gets to be part of it. She wants to experience life with her person and finally have the stability, love, and commitment she should have had from the beginning.

She has already experienced what it's like to be left behind.
