Handsome, affectionate, playful, intelligent, and full of love, Lil’ Red is a wonderful young boy who is finally getting his chance at the life every dog deserves! Lil’ Red has spent nearly his entire young life growing up in an animal shelter. While other puppies were discovering the comforts of a home, playing in backyards, and curling up beside their families, Lil’ Red was waiting patiently for someone to give him that same opportunity.

Despite spending so much of his life in a shelter environment, Lil’ Red has maintained his incredibly sweet, loving personality and his enthusiasm for life. He absolutely LOVES people! He gets so excited when someone gives him attention because, to Lil’ Red, every new person might just be his new best friend!

- Does well with children, especially those who respect his boundaries and interact appropriately with him
- Around cats, Lil Red has shown appropriate curiosity and moderate interest without demonstrating a strong prey response. As with any new animal introduction, supervision and a gradual adjustment period are recommended.

One of Lil’ Red’s most endearing qualities is how intelligent and eager to learn he is. He already know his "sit" and is an intelligent boy who responds well to guidance and has wonderful potential for continued training. He is VERY treat motivated, so with a tasty treat and a little encouragement, this handsome boy is more than willing to show you just how smart he can be. Lil' Red would thrive with a loving family willing to continue teaching him good manners, establishing a routine, and helping him become the wonderful family companion we know he can be.

Lil’ Red is an enthusiastic young dog who absolutely loves to play! Sometimes his excitement gets the best of him, especially when he wants to make a new friend. Any introductions to other dogs should be thoughtful, gradual, and supervised to help determine compatibility. Lil’ Red is still young and learning, and a family that understands his playful personality will help him continue developing his social skills.

At the shelter, he was housed near three smaller dogs. Lil’ Red appeared eager to interact and play, but those little dogs weren’t particularly interested in his enthusiastic invitations and reacted negatively toward him. Because of this experience, we believe Lil’ Red would be best suited for a home without small dogs.

Although Lil’ Red has spent most of his life in a shelter, he did have the opportunity to spend approximately one week in a medical foster home. His foster caregiver reported that he did wonderfully! Because she worked 10-hour days, Lil’ Red spent portions of his day in a crate, and he handled that arrangement very well.

He also has a lovely independent side. Give him his favorite bone, and he’s perfectly content entertaining himself quietly. When he first joins his forever family, he may benefit from a consistent routine and some crate time while he learns the household schedule and expectations. With patience, encouragement, and plenty of love, we believe Lil’ Red has wonderful potential to adjust to life as a cherished family pet.

After spending nearly his entire life in a shelter, Lil’ Red deserves something he has never truly had, a forever family to call his very own. A family that will throw his favorite ball, celebrate his accomplishments, teach him new things, and give him the love and stability he’s been missing.

We facilitate adoptions across the U.S. with USDA-certified transport teams to safely bring our animals to their new homes, with drop-off locations in CO, VA, NY, MA, WA, IL, AZ, OR, and MI.
