Jack is a 2.5-year-old, neutered, terrier mix, 35 lb boy being fostered in Houston Tx, and can be transported out of state once an approved adopter in lined up!
Jack is a bit of a homebody who enjoys lounging around most of the day, with some playtime outside when the mood strikes. He's not looking for a marathon partner, just a comfortable place to call home!
Jack enjoys playing with other dogs and can adjust his play style depending on his playmate. He's played with dogs both his size and smaller and can be surprisingly gentle with the little ones. He does tend to get excited during play and sometimes needs help recognizing when another dog is ready for a break. He's also a little nervous when meeting new dogs so slow introductions are important.
Jack is still learning that people can be trusted. He can be shy around strangers and may prefer to keep his distance rather than be touched. Treats are the way to his heart! He's very food motivated, which can help with building a relationship with him.
He's also a pretty easygoing guy when it comes to sharing his things. He doesn't guard toys or bones and he's fine eating around other dogs. He can stay home alone for shorter periods but is also crate trained when you need to be away longer. Jack will need some help building confidence with leash walks and car rides.
Jack will thrive in a quiet, predictable home with older, dog-savvy children. He needs an understanding family who appreciates an independent pup and is happy to let trust and affection develop at his own pace. He may also enjoy a canine companion with proper introductions and supervision. Give him a little time, a few treats, and a safe place to settle in, and you may just become his favorite person.
