My name is Lydia. I am 6 years old and weigh 29 pounds and trying to lose a few pounds. I need a new home because I was released from a breeder. I am being fostered in Higginsville MO.

After spending my life as a breeder everything about the world is still new to me and very scary at times. I can be very skittish and nervous. Loud sounds and sudden movements cause me to freeze or scramble. At my core, I'm a goofy, happy girl who loves to run around, especially with my stuffy in my mouth. I love to snatch clothes, shoes or towels when you're not looking and run with them. I don't chew up anything. Every day I'm becoming a little braver, a little more confident, relaxed (especially on the couch snuggling by you), and a lot more fun and sillier.

Because I'm still learning that people are kind, I can be a little startled if hands move toward me too quickly. Once I realize you're there to give me love, I'm all about the pets and affection.

I'm good with other dogs as long as they stay out of my face at first. I'm not a player yet, but I think that will be in my future. I have gained so much confidence by following my foster sibling's lead. Because of that, a home with a friendly, calm dog to help me continue learning how fun life can be would be great. I'd also enjoy someone is home often to keep my progress in learning new things.

If you take me outside often, I have no accidents in the house. I need you to stay outside in the yard with me. I am good in my crate with lots of blankets while I'm left alone and sleeping for the night.

My perfect home at this time is low activity, a calm dog to help teach me life is good, slowly introduce me to new things, including learning to go on walks and lots of cuddle-time on the couch.

Here's a little more about me:

The adoption process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at ''https://www.adoptaboston.com/adoption-application.

All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Other medical needs diagnosed while in foster care are also treated prior to adoption.

MABTR requires a fenced in area from families who own their home, however we DO adopt to apartment complexes and communities where fences are not permitted due to leases and covenants. In these cases a leash law must be enforced. We do not accept invisible fencing.

MABTR only adopts to families residing in NE, CO, MO, KS, IA, WY, SD, ND, ID, UT, MT, MN, and NW AR due to the lack of volunteer support in other states, no exception even if you are willing to drive.

If you are Interested in Adoption please complete our online adoption application at 'https://www.adoptaboston.com/adoption-application
